…Seriously stop it.
It’s Sunday afternoon, and as I’m scrolling through my social media feeds I already see people hatin’ on Monday.
When I wake up tomorrow I can 110% bet that my feeds will be covered with the Monday blues, statuses about not wanting to go to work, and weekend hangover complaints.
And by the time Friday comes, it’s going to be all about T.G.I.F!!!, OMG it’s the weekend, #friyay and celebrations of the upcoming days off of partying, drinking and eating take-away food.
Want some examples of the stuff I’m seeing? I’ll give you some:
“I love Sundays…until the 3 p.m. Monday anxiety kicks in.”
“Sigh it’s Monday tomorrow 😣”
“F*!k you Monday”
Why’s it gotta be this way? It hasn’t.
Somehow we live in a society where it’s become socially acceptable and cheered on by the social media crowed to diss on Mondays, and celebrate Fridays…
Sunday night while you’re watching one of your favourite shows and eating your dinner, you enter mild depression.
Monday morning your alarm rings and all you want to do is hit snooze.
Tuesday you’re wishing it was Friday already.
Wednesday is a struggle.
Thursday is a bit more bearable because Friday is coming soon.
And by mid-afternoon on Friday, you can’t focus on what you’re doing because you’ve checked out of the office you’re sitting in already.
If this sounds like you, have you ever asked why you hate Monday’s so much and live life feeling this way?
When you really think about, the simple answer is likely to be – you don’t like your job enough.
You’re not getting captured in something you love.
You’re not leveraging your strengths and doing something that energises your soul.
It saddens me that a lot of people out there are settling and accepting a lacklustre life.
Why? Because we’re afraid of the unknown. It’s not painful enough to make a change.
We are masters of rationalizing our fears and coming up with excuses like:
“I’m too old to change”… “I need the money”… “I have no time”… “I can’t make a living doing what I love”… “It’s just part of life”… “I’m not good enough”…
Please. I’m begging you to stop.
If you find more often than not you’re hating Monday, then ask yourself what would you rather be doing? And what are the steps you need to take to make it happen?
It’s 2017 and we have the biggest opportunity to create a life we enjoy.
Everyone of us has the ability to take action and live with passion.
Got a business idea? Great! Start doing.
Want to be a Dentist? Sweet! Go enrol yourself on a course to become one.
Want to teach? Find out how to become one!
All the tools are out there and it’s completely possible to feel excited on a Sunday night and charge out of bed come Monday morning with energy for the day.
I know it doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes we’ve got to go through the grind to get there. We’ve got to keep on putting in the work, and heck you might even have to work two jobs at the same time and work at what you really enjoy every spare hour you get to arrive there – that’s how I found myself here, and I refuse to ever stop.
I’m not here to rant and rave.
I write this only to spark you to ask yourself the question, and to think twice about settling for average or waking up wishing you could go back to sleep until it’s a Saturday.
Because even if you don’t know what it is you want to do right now… taking the journey to find out what it is – is one hundred, billion, zillion times more exciting that never opening yourself to knowing what it could be, at all.
So what are you waiting for? Take the first step. Go live your life with purpose. 😘
P.S. That pic featured on this blog post? That’s our amazing team, and I LOVE spending every day of the week with this bunch who are all part of the same mission, and proud to be a part of the pack.
It hasn’t always felt this good to me. And there’s been times where I’ve felt lost, and wondered if I’ll ever do something I love to do – but it’s happened, and it’s happening, so it can be that way for you too. ❤️
