My heart has been crying out to me.
For years I ignored her.
“What do you want me to do?” I asked.
“Write.” She said.
“Write the words you wish were written for you…
…Write because another soul is dying to know they’re not alone”
I don’t know about you… But whenever I have a breakthrough in life — whether it be related to self-development, a Marketing strategy, a new way to do something…
It swarms around inside me like a fireball of energy, that I just have to share — because if I keep it in, it’ll only keep yelling at me until I let it out.
After all, I strongly believe that we read to know we’re not alone, and when we find ourselves in words shared — magic happens.
Anyway, the other week I had one of those moments.
I knew it had been inside me all along, but I just never tuned in to listen… Because I didn’t know how.
But all of that changed that day.
Because I finally began to see, from a different angle — exactly how to start tuning in and paying attention to the voice that’s always lived inside of me.
We all have one… an ‘inner child’.
You, me, every single human being — we all have an ‘inner child inside of us’, that if you ignore, keeps crying out louder and louder every time, until you snap, and finally choose to listen.
When I talk about the “child within” — I’m talking about you as a baby, as a toddler, as a school child, as a teenager… You at every stage of life lives within you…
…And if you’ve forgotten about ‘you’ way back then, your inner child is likely to show up in different ways.
Maybe she (or he) tells you she’s there in the form of anxiety. Maybe she cries out as an addiction. Maybe as stress, as dance, as poetry… as something that isn’t serving you…
Your inner child doesn’t have to be limited to taking one form.
Throughout your life, she is very likely to show up in different ways. Maybe she even builds up in different ways.
What I really want to share with you today is this…
Healing from anything, moving past pain, letting go and learning to carry yourself through this life without allowing the pain from the past rule you, requires that we find compassion for the vulnerable child inside who may have been hurt, betrayed, let down and abandoned.
This isn’t easy. A lot of us completely forget that child even existed. We forget completely what it was like to be back then. How we felt, what happened, how we saw the world…
But once you recognize there’s a child inside you begging for the attention she deserves — that’s when true transformation really begins to happen.
What I’m discovering more and more is this… That my inner child is here to guide me now that I’m more powerful.
She’s the one who has been wounded. She knows if she needs to be held, to be understood, to be listened to. There may be times she just needs to be pampered! She knows, and now that I know this to be true, it’s my responsibility to do as much as I can to comfort that child who has been wounded — who is me and take all the time we need.
And one other thing I know for sure…
…She will always show up at the right time.
You are always where you need to be, at every moment.
Love and light to you 💛
