✨ D E A R 2 0 1 8✨ As I sit here reflecting on 2018 I find a million different truths and lessons I've experienced springing to mind - this took some effort to STOP myself from writing a book on each one and condense them into 12 (ok, well maybe 14 😝...) This year has … Continue reading 14 Things I Learned In 2018 💕

205 Days Binge Eating Free

December 15, 2018Leave a comment

When you say no to “compulsive eating” in the moments you lose touch with yourSelf - no matter how many days free you are from using this addiction - it doesn’t mean the pull to turn to it isn’t there. Heck no. Not for me anyway. Somedays it’s as if compulsive/binge eating and I had … Continue reading 205 Days Binge Eating Free

MINUTE BREATH MEDITATION // DAY 12 “Yesterday I was gasping for air. This morning, I became the air.” ✨ I love the taste of each meditation morning, The freshness it brings, The darkness, The glowingness, The unexpected whispers of Soul, The re-connection, The head following heart, The human fidget struggle, The space it grants for all parts to be held, Seen, felt, touched, ...unconditionally... loved. The melody of your own heart beating, The cleansing, The sensing, The dropping, Deeply, And oh so completely, Into the unknown for all to become, Known, and conditioned patterns un-sewn. 🙏✨ Some mornings it’s a struggle, a fight between human ways, mind sways - but one thing is for certain - no matter the state you hold, the soul still stays. ✨Yesterday I was gasping for air. This morning, I became the air.✨ Today I shall continue the dance of Paven Guru - the carrier of prana, life force energy that expands us, liberates us, heals us... Meditate to create space to get out of your own way. I hope you get to experience it’s kiss, and meet this life consciously as a play. 1 MINUTE BREATH MEDITATION / DAY 6: Yoga, the blueprint of living. It has been a busy few weeks of travelling, serving, leading, learning, teaching and listening... And today as I lit a candle, connected with the Ong Namo 🕯- the golden, divine wisdom that resides in the Center of all of us - I was gifted with a delicious moment of solitude and a reminder to lean on the teachings of yoga, of movement, again and again, as a stable support to flourish in this life 🕊 Many times in life, we don’t realise just what we’ve been holding onto and cleverly storing away until we sit and consciously breathe without distraction. It can hit us like a bullet train without warning. 🤯 One authentic voice, asking how you are, can cause the emotion bubbling in the springs to erupt to the surface like a volcano and move as a waterfall of tears. One total exhale can cause the body to shake, releasing tension because it knows that exhale is permission to drop the mask.🍂 ✨ So next time you’ve been go-go-go... honour that steadfast, determined passionate flame in you... 🔥 and at the same time, take a lesson from the movements of a yoga set, of a martial arts sequence, of a set in the gym: Give it your all, be fully present in those actions and allow yourself to go safely to the edge all the while containing energy so you don’t fall down into dust... And then allow yourself to relax completely, as you would in shavasana, as you would in the space between each move in a martial arts sequence, as you would between reps in the gym. 🍃 We are the beholders of our own power. We can tap into it anytime we need. ✨ What movement do you do that teaches you how to act, contain, control the movement, then surrender breathe and be? ✨ What would life be like if we decided to take hold of how we interact with each moment in life, using the wisdom movements like yoga give birth to? Take note. Movement is an antidote. Motion opens the door, To take back what is yours. 💓 Inspired by a puppy’s heart 💓 It’s the warm, familiar smell of September It’s the fresh, still mornings of December And the ‘almost’ unconditional love, of a puppy’s heart That reminds me it’s safe, to rest deep slow down these feet, and pay attention, to what has been buried inside, that has been waiting so long, to become known. ✨ As you tread through winter, dear... Accept the invite to sway. Sway like snow flakes dance to softly rest on the ground. Breathe deeply, retreat inside, and hear what the language of your cells have to say. As I sat receptive on my mat this weekend, Surrounded by beautiful faces of forever long friends, the breath reached tucked away spaces. Winter is time to reboot our roots We’ve stored in dark places. It’s time to move from one phase to another... To rest Re-set Before the new beginning. Exhale our perceptions of should be’s Let go of the stagnant And inhale the freshness With a sweet ease. So accept the invite to sway, Feel into what brings you joy, What brings you comfort, Like the love of a puppy’s heart, That makes it safe for your inner world To come out to play. Every moment, Every breath, Carves a new day. Turning the back On anxiousness Doesn’t tame it. Numbing out anxiousness doesn’t soothe it. (Only temporarily). How do you ease it? How do you help anxiousness, settle on down? You sit with it. Focus your eyes at a point still and breathe with it. Breathe into it. Consciously take hold of the leash it has had around your neck like a noose, hold it steady merge into the breath and gently, with grace teach it how to dance a slow, slow dance. The deeper you breathe, The deeper you feed, The life of the soul nerve. If there’s one thing we can take control of - It’s the breath. It’s like your personal lifeline you can tune into, anywhere, any time. Anxiousness isn’t your enemy It’s your invite to listen. Yes, anxiousness can be a signal of threat but it’s also a sign. Listen to it Feel into it Weep with it become the Sensei of it Slow it down. By breathing We return to being By taking control of the breath You can take back control of your steps. So long as you are consciously breathing You are consciously living. The lungs are the house To safety, so breathe deep I’m pulling out a seat Dropping into the body Returning With you. And as I slowed down the pace, Lifted my chin, From my chest, Locked eyes in the mirror, And stared back at this face, That is when the sound of the primal mother came rushing in. Maa - the primal sound that calls upon the mother in all. Maa - the sound that penetrates time, and breaks down your own self created walls. Maa - the sound that laces fingers with these hands. The sound that carries you to rest, the one who can withstand. For the love of the internal Mother is unconditional. Maa enters the space when the soul runs weary, and you need a break from constantly standing tall. Maa is the love that magically invokes the healing power within, she’s the sound that sees us, that holds us, when our energy is wearing thin. As I close my eyes, hand on heart, ready to surrender this mask - I welcome your archetypal lullaby, and wave this hard as stone feeling a sweet goodbye. Breathe deep. Breathe long. Breathe slow. The breath is always guiding you home. ❤️ : : #yoga #yogapractice #kundalini #kundaliniyoga #meditate #mentalhealth #mentalhealthquotes #selfcare #selflove #empowerment #poetrycommunity #poetsofinstagram #thoughtoftheday #breathe #pranayama #yogibhajan #divinemother
“There is a way through every block…” -Yogi Bhajan …That way is, you. 🙏 I’m away in a magical part of the world right now, 🛫 and each time I get the opportunity to travel away from my natural habitat which is anchored to my natural routine - I’m grateful because it gifts me with the invite to get even cosier with parts of myself which ‘home’ can drown out. 🥨 ✨You fly into the unknown. ✨You have a different cushion on which to rest your head. ✨The mind can become loud, trapped experiences unravel hoping for the chance to be found. And it can be a real opportunity to see if you’re going to tap into the tools to cradle you through it 👐- or leave them untouched, only to return to them when you return to your apartment back overseas. Sometimes the thought of doing a practice that requires a lot of physical exertion when you’re inputting a lot of mental exertion - can make you want to pull the covers back over your head. But over a year ago I had a beautiful encounter with a Kundalini Yoga Kriya that does quite the opposite instead.💕 ✨The Movement Relaxation Series✨ - and now it’s on my list of top 3 favourite ones. It’s where you use the rhythm of your own song to relax the mind, relax the body, and allow all tension to come undone. 🎼 When the time of the month comes around where this body asks me to settle down, I’m so grateful I can sway into this practice moving softly, or moving swiftly to my own body’s sound. For a girl who has lived a chunk of her life in go-go-go perfection driver mode, in loops of trauma - to find an exercise that genuinely teaches me how to relax, has been one of the greatest gifts I’ve come to know. And I can’t wait to share this Kundalini Kriya with you at the winter retreat happening Saturday 23rd, November at the The Rising Dawn Sanctuary on the outskirts of York. 👉We’ve still a few spaces left… If you want to know how to use the power of breath and movement to stay calm over the christmas period 🤗 - come join us. DM to book your mat. It IS possible to float and stay grounded at the same time - this is the Kriya that has let me know. Looking forward to dancing with you. BIG love. Satya Kalyan
